Introduction.

DEFINITION

  1. Stealth refers to the condition of being undetectable by radar, infrared, sonar and other military-grade detection methods.
  2. Stealth, in the civilian context, can refer to the condition of being completely invisible to the naked eye of another subject, that the practitioner is hoping to evade from.
  3. Stealth technology, regardless of context, refers to the application of evasion techniques to avoid detection.

If you had a relatively typical childhood, you will probably have some pre-conceived notions of what constitutes the condition of being stealth. You have probably seen it in games, where the character you are playing is invisible to hostile targets. Do you remember the unrivaled advantage you derive from that condition of invisibility?

That is a fascination that struck us, when we decided to embark on a mesmerising journey to learn about stealth technology.

Stealth is a perennial dream of humanity, it seems like an idea that only the most idealistic can tackle, after all, it subtly hints of what magicians would want you to believe since the dawn of the craft of magic. What seems shrouded in mystery is however, an idea that has completely mesmerised humanity for as long as we have managed to mint weapons. This idea has hardly changed since time immemorial; to offer the practitioner an unmatched advantage to evade detection, and to successfully complete an act that the practitioner hopes that target will never find out until the completion of the act.

In a nutshell, it is the emanation of knowledge. The idea of stealth is neither new, nor far from the aspirations of military leaders and states. As long as any group of collective persons dream of superiority, of unrivalled supremacy that only the group can selfishly enjoy, there will always be a need for military strategies, and no amount of technological advancement and technical sophisticated in the war machines can make these groups invincible, than being successful at harnessing the condition of being stealth.

In the interest of contextualising our research, we have chosen to provide 3 working definitions of stealth in this study.

DISCLAIMER

The objective of this project demands the reader to disregard all preconceived notion regarding stealth technologies, and the use of stealth.

The reader should understand that stealth technologies does not predispose the item or person to be completely invisible to the human eye, but increased, if not complete evasion from being detected by object detection systems.
